Code of Ethics for
the Practice of Mold Inspection, Mold Testing, Mold Remediation, and
Environmental Hygiene
Objective
The canons provided in this Code of Ethics
provide standards of ethical conduct for certified mold professionals
trained and certified by the Professional Certification Institute, [hereinafter
collectively called "certified environmental professionals"] for use by such
professionals as they practice their profession and exercise their primary
mission which is to protect the health and well-being of both their clients
and the general public from microbiological and other environmental health
hazards located in homes, condo's, apartments, offices, factories, retail
stores, other workplaces, schools, churches,
entertainment facilities, stores, and other occupied buildings of all types.
First Canon of Ethical Conduct
Certified environmental professionals shall
practice their profession by following recognized scientific principles with
the full understanding that the lives, health, personal well-being, financial
well-being, and legal well-being of both clients and the general public may
depend upon the professionals' professional judgment, evaluation,
recommendations, and provided services.
Second Canon of Ethical Conduct
Certified environmental professionals shall
advise their clients accurately and correctly regarding potential health risks and
precautions necessary to avoid adverse health effects.
Third Canon of Ethical Conduct
Certified environmental professionals shall keep
confidential personal and business information obtained during the exercise
of their professional duties activities, except when required by law or overriding
health and public safety considerations.
Fourth Canon of Ethical Conduct
Certified environmental professionals shall avoid
circumstances and situations wherein a compromise of professional judgment
or conflict of interest may arise.
Fifth Canon of Ethical Conduct
Certified environmental professionals shall
perform services only within the areas of their own particular competency, training, and
certification.
Sixth Canon of Ethical Conduct
Certified environmental professionals shall
act responsibly to uphold the integrity of their profession and of their
professional training and certification.
Seventh Canon of Ethical Conduct
Certified environmental professionals
shall continually keep their professional knowledge and skills current and
up-to-date with the ever-changing and ever-happening advances in scientific
knowledge and professional practices in regard to the areas of their own
particular competence, training, and certification. |
